Pump Up Your Weekend Plans with Madagascar: A Musical Adventure

The Charline McCombs Empire Theatre was built in 1913 on the site of the former Rische's Opera House in downtown San Antonio, Texas. Designed in the style of a European palazzo by architects Mauran, Russell & Crow of St. Louis, the Empire operated as a vaudeville house and then a motion picture theatre.

The theatre closed its doors in 1978 only to reopen 20 years later after $5 million in renovations. The 856 seat Empire is equipped with a flexible seating system on the main floor, providing the capability for theatre style seating, as well as adjustable platforms that provide both banquet and cabaret table seating options. The Empire is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is operated by ATG North America as a self-sustaining performing arts facility, and is home to a wide variety of programming including: intimate musical concerts, comedy attractions, children's theatre; and private uses including banquets, seminars, product launches, and weddings.

Next up on our schedule is based off the beloved children’s movie, Madagascar. We have one question for you: Do you like to Move it, Move it? Then, take a journey out of the zoo and onto the stage with your favorite crack-a-lackin’ friends from the blockbuster DreamWorks film.

Join Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the hip hip Hippo and, of course, those hilarious, plotting penguins as they bound onto your stage in the musical adventure of a lifetime. Based on the smash DreamWorks animated motion picture, Madagascar – A Musical Adventure follows all of your favorite crack-a-lackin’ friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar.

Madagascar will leave audiences with no choice but to “Move It, Move It!” And now, it’s you chance to move it right to the Charlene McCombs Empire Theatre with your favorite kiddos in tow for this hilarious, lovable performance, featuring all of your children’s favorite characters!

We know you love your home at Oxford at Estonia Apartments in San Antonio, Texas, but it’s important to stay active and involved in your community. Attending this event is the perfect chance for you to journey outside your comfort zone to meet new people and seek new opportunities.
